The Happy House is proud to be a Hove Arts venue and, as such, has been participating in the annual Brighton and Hove Artists' Open House festival (which comes under the Brighton and Hove Festival Umbrella programme) every year since 2005.

In 2001 a group of artists came together to form Hove Arts. The artists involved decided to link their venues – open houses, studios and workshops – to form an arts group. The idea was to recognise and develop the art activities in Hove, which are still expanding each year.

Since that time Hove Arts has grown considerably. The venues change each year with some houses and studios being open year after year. In 2009, for instance, there were 16 venues on board showing the work of over 100 individual artists. Work by members of Hove Arts typically includes painting, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics, original prints, mixed media, photography, works in metal, plastics, glass and textiles, and much more.
